Casey Stoner admitted that his performance in the Portuguese MotoGP qualifying session was not optimal. Repsol Honda rider was also hoping to perform better in races.
Stoner's only ranked fourth in the qualifying session at Estoril Circuit on Saturday (04/30/2011). He also will start the race behind Jorge Lorenzo, Marco Simoncelli, and Dani Pedrosa.
"Today is not in accordance with our expectations. In the morning session we were somewhat a waste of time - we just dwell on the wet setting that has not satisfied us in Jerez," Stoner said, as quoted by Autosport.
"We slightly improve the situation and we can expect a better sense of other times in wet conditions,"added the rider from Australia this.
Stoner pretty sure I could perform better during the race. The reason, he felt it was found the most suitable motor settings.
"Every time I go down to the track, I felt something was not right in terms of balance, so we tried in different directions. Finally, we found the right direction and we were a little more developed after that. Unfortunately, I can not use qualifying tires as I want, "explained Stoner.
"When I race with a new tire, I made a little mistake on the lap-lap early, so do not make the best ability of the tire."
"I think we've got potential and hopefully now we have a good race tomorrow," he finished.
