Casey Stoner successful third place finish at Estoril. But who thought that was reached after struggling with back pain that almost forced him out of the race.
In Portugal MotoGP race on Sunday (01/05/2011) night local time, Stoner behind Jorge Lorenzo finished in second place and Dani Pedrosa who finished first.
"When we thought things would get better towards the end of the race, because that is what our motor settings, I unfortunately felt a sudden pain in his back,"said Stoner in Autosport.
"For half a lap I could not move. I thought if I should pull into the pit," he added.
Fortunately, the state of the Honda rider then improved. In the end he failed to stop the race and continued to cross the finish line.
"Fortunately the pain was reduced, enough for me to change direction and move from the motor side to side. honestly could finish alone is a relief."
"In recent years the race I was thinking to continue to press them (Lorenzo and Pedrosa) if only one of them make mistakes, but they still drove well and did not maybe I can catch up again," said Stoner.
